Arsenal’s loss is Manutd’s gain…

OK..ok…we just need another 1 point to seal this season title and deeply hurt Liverpool heart. 19th title will be very very sweet…

If United managed to do it this weekend, then it is going to be Sir Alex 12th EPL medals. What a great manager!! No question about it.. But.. yesterday, he revealed that he almost signed with Arsenal instead of United in 1986.

Thanks God he signed for United at the end!! Who said impatient is bad?? Bad for Gooner..but not for United. Hahaha..

The offer came early in 1986 and Ferguson was keen to take Walter Smith to the Gunners with him.
But Scotland’s World Cup campaign in Mexico that year meant the move to Arsenal fell through.

Ferguson made the revelations in the match programme for Rangers’ Scottish Premier League clash against Dundee United – Smith’s last match in charge at Ibrox.

Ferguson said: “I was offered the Arsenal job and I wanted to take Walter with me.

“I thought I would sound him out when we were on Scotland duty together. We were going to play in Israel and I didn’t know that Walter was going to Rangers at that time.

“I told him that I had been offered the chance to go to Arsenal and I asked him what he thought. He was positive about it, saying they were a big club and that kind of thing.

“So I said to him ‘Do you fancy coming with me?’ Then he dropped the bombshell that he was going to Rangers.

“The thing about the Arsenal offer was that they wanted an answer right away but I couldn’t give them one because I was going to the World Cup in Mexico with Scotland.

“So the Arsenal thing fell by the wayside. Walter went to Rangers and then later that year I went to Manchester United

Video – Nani helps United go three points clear at top

Manchester United moved 3 points clear at the top of the Premier League thanks to a hard fought 2-1 victory over Stoke at Old Trafford. United opened the scoring with Hernandez beautiful back-heel from Nani cross. United seemed in total control but couldn’t get the second and Stoke shocked Old Trafford by drawing level just after half-time. Dean Whitehead finding the back of the net with a header. However it wasn’t long before United were back in front, Nani firing home a superb, left-foot curler just after the hour.

With an FA Cup tie to come here on Sunday against Liverpool, Ferguson not surprisingly made some changes to his team. Defender Chris Smalling made his first Premier League start for United as Rio Ferdinand missed out, while Darron Gibson and Ryan Giggs came in and Nani made a return after a hip problem.
With Wayne Rooney also absent — having suffered an ankle injury in the win at West Brom — the Mexican centre forward Hernandez started the game.

Another struggle match for United..but… with another 3 points that put United 3 points clear with 1 game in hand??.. no more comment!

1-0 Hernandez

2-1 Nani
