For United’s multitude of fans in Asia, there’s now another reason to be excited by the team’s visit to the continent in July: the launch of the new home shirt.

Lucky supporters with tickets for the four pre-season games in Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea and China will be the very first to see the Reds play in the brand new kit.

And, unlike the last time United visited Asia in 2007, the new strip will also be available for fans to buy during the tour.

United’s first-team stars have already taken part in a photoshoot wearing the new kit, but it will be kept strictly under wraps until the Reds fly to Kuala Lumpur on July 16.

“We launch the new home shirt the day we leave for Asia, so the team will be wearing it as often as possible – it’s the first time fans will see the shirt on the pitch,” says United’s relationship director Luisa d’Aprano.

Dave Seales, commercial manager at Manchester United Merchandising Limited, adds: “The kit launch always happens at that time of year but what we’ve got better at recently is to coincide it with the pre-season tour so that the shirt is available for the team to wear, and for fans to buy.”

With the Asia Tour also likely to provide a first taste of action for any new signings United make in the summer, it’s shaping up to be an exciting time for the millions of dedicated fans who follow the Reds from the other side of the world.
