Manchester United living legend Ryan Giggs, already their longest serving player of all time, as well as the club’s record appearance holder has been rewarded for his recent Indian summer with a new one-year extension to his Manchester United contract.

Giggs, 35, has been a first-teamer at Old Trafford since 1991 and has scored in 17 straight top division seasons, with his solo goal against West Ham at the weekend being his first of this season. A man-of-the-match showing in last month’s 3-0 win over Chelsea, where he played in centre midfield, has been hailed as one of his best performances in his long and glittering career.

This is what ex-United, Paul Parker said about him..

But what he has lost in pace he has gained in his mind and in his football ability and he is still getting better.

When I first went to Manchester United, he was just a young player, but he was a fantastic player and we don’t produce enough like him in England.

He got the chance to play with experienced players at a young age and that enabled him to develop. It is a subject I often come back to, but we don’t do that enough now in this country and we really should else there won’t be another Ryan Giggs again.

Ryan’s new deal will take him up to 37 years of age and there are only a few players that have done that, but he certainly has enough about himself to be able to pull it off.

He will know when it is time to stop – the last thing Ryan would want to do would be to let down Manchester United.

If Ryan knows he cannot stay at this level or play enough games to perform for Manchester United then he will know his time is up.

Thank you for staying Giggsy. You are the reason why I supported Manutd.
